Tablescape Tuesday #3 - SUPER BOWL Tablescape

Hi all!

Well, our Sunday Family Dinner for Super Bowl Sunday was a festive one.  We had just gotten home from Disney so we didn't make any plans for Super Bowl....with the exception of our Sunday Family Dinner.

For those of you new to my blog...We've started a new family tradition this year that I hope continues even after the kids are grown. "SUNDAY FAMILY DINNERS!"

We pretty much have dinner together as a family every night, but on Sundays, we're going to have a special dinner in the dining room as opposed to the kitchen table, where we normally eat.

I get out the fine china and candles and make a special meal and so far, it has been something we look forward to each week. Then once a month, we invite some of our extended family to join us for a Sunday family dinner.

It's also been giving me a chance to do lots of new TABLESCAPES..haha!

This weekend, my husband suggested we do a football themed table in honor of the Super Bowl.  I thought that was a great idea, even though I don't really follow football.

My husband is a football fan, so I had to find out from him what the colors were.  The good news was that the colors were some that were in my tablescape the week prior (the Royal Treatment (Found HERE).   I only had to do some minor tweaks, but I didn't want to have the exact same table as last time.

The colors were Red and Gold  (the 49ers)  and Purple and Black (the Ravens).   I had Purple and gold with black last week, so all I had to do was add in some red, switch some things up a bit and I was good to go!

Here's what I came up with...

The FOOTBALL (my husband's) was the center of it all!   I got some Mardi Gras Beads (which you will also see at NEXT WEEK'S Table as well - from the Dollar Store!)  and put them in this glass veggie tray which is sitting on a candle pedestal.

I used a tablecloth I found at Goodwill (which I actually think is a curtain panel) and used it as a runner....but gathered it around the centerpiece.   I added one of my gold pillar candle holder with a red bowl on top, and gold and purple ornaments inside the bowl, along with some gold sparkly icicle ornaments lining around the inside, and my purple and black tall candle holder (part of last week's centerpiece, but it was purple and black!  Perfect!

My red Walmart Charger plates from Christmas time, my dollar store white plates, some brand new gold salad plates from Goodwill  (50 cents each!)  and my red and white polka dot dessert plates from Ross!   Topped with a purple wine glass (Goodwill) and a gold napkin (Kohl's - 70% off!)

For the buffet, I kept the same table linens as last week, but wanted to add this little "Football Field" (this is a piece of green poster paper from the dollar store, white ribbon, and thin strips of yellow construction paper)   I made it Sunday morning and thought it added a festive football feel to the table.

I also added a plastic football tray (Dollar Tree)  two purple wine glasses with sparkly gold icicle ornaments for the "goals" and a football on one of the tiered plates.

A close up view of the "Football Field"

For the chandelier, I added some gold beads all the way around and brought them together with a purple curly bow I've had forever!

Here's the spread.  Crock Pot Beef Stroganoff, Garlic parmesean roasted cauliflower and (not pictured)  Orange Dreamsicle Jello Salad.

Thanks so much for joining me for another edition of Tablescape Tuesday!!

  9. I am so impressed with the way you were able to use all of the colors from both teams! I am sure that your husband appreciated all of your efforts. Our family always had a Sunday night tradition of ordering pizza on Sunday nights, since I cooked our large Sunday meal at lunch time. I, too, have fond memories of those days. Hope you had a wonderful time at Disney!

I need to figure out a way to add THAT tradition in as well! Pizza is pretty much my all-time FAVORITE FOOD! =) Thanks again for visiting! Come on by ANYTIME! =D

  11. Hi again! Good to see you back with another fun tablescape! Fun to integrate the colors of the teams with the colors associated with the host city's Mardi Gras! Even though the dishes are in 49ers colors, I still like it! :-) (That's bad of me! I was wearing a 49ers sweatshirt when I met my husband umpteen years ago, so I should be thankful as that was apparently my "lucky" sweatshirt!) You did a good job of getting that football to stand up! I love the idea of a regular Sunday dinner. We used to do it all the time when I was a kid a thousand years ago. It was a ritual of sorts. Since my husband and I are now empty nesters, though, it's much harder to orchestrate. My Mom still loves to do a nice Sunday dinner, but traveling there every Sunday isn't possible. We do it when we can. Take it from me...your kids will remember these Sunday dinners as something very special. Have a wonderful weekend!
