Hey Home Girls! Well, it looks like this is going to be a MULTI-PART series on the Master Bathroom alone...haha!
Remember that vanity where I cleaned out the drawers?
Well, The DRAWERS got cleaner, but the TOP of the vanity was still a mess! So, I was starting to get frustrated that I had such a messy vanity still....after all that work I did on what I couldn't see!
Soooo...next to be tackled was the top of the Vanity.
There was big stuff all over the place. Two vanity mirrors...well, you can see for yourself...clutter, clutter, clutter!
My vanity needed a TOTAL MAKEOVER!
So first, I changed two light bulbs which had burned out above the mirror. Then...on to the tougher stuff. I started tackling the clutter....I threw away anything I didn't need...which, sadly wasn't much, because if it was on the top of this vanity, it meant that we had used it fairly recently...so this was stuff I needed. So I had to find a place to put all this stuff where we weren't looking at it cluttered up on the vanity.
Into medicine cabinets and a newly-cleaned under-sink cabinet it went. I did get rid of a lot of stuff from the medicine cabinet and under-sink cabinet because there was a LOT we just weren't using.
Sadly, I forgot to take "before" pictures of the under-sink cabinet...but it pretty much looked as cluttered as this vanity top! I DID get an "after" picture!
Then, with a newly cleared-off vanity top, I needed to make it shine....there was a lot of dust and grime that needed to go. So I set to it.
It looked a lot better already.
BUT....while it looked nice and clean...it still didn't look pretty or inviting. There is no door into this part of the Master Bathroom from the bedroom, so clean was a must, but I also wanted it to look pretty, as an extension of our bedroom (which will look a LOT better once I de-clutter THAT room! haha!)
So, I took some advice from a GREAT organizer, entertainer, home-fashionista...NICHOLE BOYD. You should check out her blog (www.athomewithnikki.com) as well as her YouTube videos! (http://www.youtube.com/user/athomewithnikki).
I watched her video on "Multi-Functional Accessories" and I loved her idea that I could put some of the stuff I bought for my elegant tablescapes in MORE PLACES than JUST on the Dining Room Table!!! So I grabbed a few new tablescape items and put them in my bathroom!
The great part is, I don't have to store them anywhere, and I can always take them out to the dining room if I need them for a tablescape!
I recently bought this lovely silver candleabra at Michael's for about $13 (after using their "40% off any one item" coupon.) I found the plate at Ross for just $2.50...and the plate-STAND at Dollar Tree! The canister is part of a gift from my in-laws...a pedicure set...but the decor worked perfectly.
I really like how it turned out....clutter-free and kind of looks a little "Z-Gallerie" to me with some sparkle and glamour! I will probably add something to the toothbrush holder to make it look a little more coordinated. I might even look for a nice way to jazz up my soap dispenser...but for now, I'm really happy with this!
Well, thanks for reading! See you next time for another organizing adventure!!! haha! Have a great day!
This post was added to Boogieboard Cottage's Masterpiece Monday, DianaRambles Pin Me Party as well as "Open House" on Bernideen's Tea Time Blog.
My son was recently home for a visit - he is almost 37 years old. He opened the medicine cabinet in the downstairs bathroom and showed me the stuff still in it from when he was a teenager.....I never open it so I never would have thought of looking. Your bathroom looks great now! Thanks for linking to "Open House".
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen! I know how that is. I had stuff in my medicine cabinet for YEARS that I don't think I ever used...I just kept because I thought I just MIGHT use it at some point. Thanks so much for stopping by, and for the nice compliment! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Lenetta!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I'll check it out. I love linking up to link parties and checking out all the great ideas and blogs that I never would have found otherwise! Have a great day! =D
