Hi again! Hope you're having a great weekend!
Well, I'm back on the "Organization Superhighway". I have to admit, my sanity is returning with each part of my home that I tackle.
As this "cluttered cottage" slowly morphs into a "beautiful bungalow", I'm beginning to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. And I want to KEEP it this way...so I'm quickly becoming a "Clutter Nazi" in the areas where I've already cleaned and organized.
We had become so used to just leaving things out when we use them, and we weren't always putting them back or putting them away.
I am now convinced that my mother was right when she would say stuff like, "It doesn't take too long to just put something away when you're finished with it, but it makes a big difference."
The one place where it's going to be hardest to maintain in my opinion is the KITCHEN. This is the area where our whole family is. We eat there, we hang out there, have snacks and cook there.
I definitely had my work cut out for me. This kitchen was full of clutter from dirty dishes to stuff on the counters that totally shouldn't be, to just too much STUFF!
We weren't putting things away once they were used, and as a result...well, THIS is what happened!
So I set to work. Getting rid of stuff we didn't need and finding better places for the stuff we DID need.
I can't believe how much BIGGER my kitchen looks when the clutter is gone! I just LOVE it!!!
I decided to use a teapot I found at Goodwill, and some matching candlesticks from our church's local thrift store and put a nice red rose bouquet in there to make it homey and nice.
I also put some stackable bins by the sink to put our fruits and veggies that usually go bad in the bottom of our refrigerator and the back of our pantry. Having these out reminds me that we have them and that we need to eat them!
The kitchen counter is where we charge our phones and IPods, etc, so I cleared out the clutter in our "charging station and it looks much better now. My "Home Boy" also bought a neat coffee pot slider to allow us to have our coffee maker back at the wall, and then easily slide out for us to use. This makes things a little easier.
Here is a view of the Kitchen from the family room. It just looks much nicer when it's clean!!!
So now the goal is to MAINTAIN this newly clutter-free look!
Also, you can't see the DESK on the other side of the ovens...that is still full of clutter...but I'll be taking care of that another day! One thing at a time. haha!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great rest of your weekend!

Yes, much nicer!!! I have not heard of a coffee pot slider---good idea---I do slid mine, but don't have a slider. Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much NannyKim. I have to admit, I was amazed at how nice it looked. It has pretty much had some form of clutter since we moved in, and to see it now, it just looks like a new kitchen. It's even made my husband think of ways we could UPDATE the kitchen with some new cabinets and countertops!! YAY! Ah, the benefits of organization!! I think my hubby found the coffee slider on Amazon, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check on that and get back to you. We always just slid ours out too, but then we'd never slide it back..haha! Thanks again for checking out my post! I really appreciate it! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHi NannyKim! I asked my hubby and he said he got on one of our trips to "Old Tyme Pottery". Love that store! Hope that helps! Have a great weekend!
