MAKEOVER MONDAY - Master Bathtub

Happy Monday!!!

Well this weekend has just FLOWN by!  It was a great one, complete with a very nice SUNDAY FAMILY DINNER, which I will be sharing with you tomorrow on TABLESCAPE TUESDAY...and lots of other fun activities!

Well, back to the work week, AND...time for another....

MAKEOVER MONDAY!

But first...I just wanted to share that one of my posts was featured on "A Humble Creation's" Monday Makeover" Party.

If you haven't had time to check out her blog or her link party, you should go check it out!  Jessica from "A Humble Creation" is a very sweet and nice person who knows how to make some really neat crafts and shares her trials and triumphs along the way!!

Ok, so today I will be featuring how I made over my Master Bathroom's tub area.  This is the third part in a SERIES of Master Bathroom Makeover posts!  haha!  If you are new to my blog and would like to see the others...You can access them here and here.

This part of the bathroom was in pretty bad shape.  Dirty, dusty, grimy, and just not a relaxing, pretty place to relax and take a nice bath!

Towels hanging around haphazardly, a mildewy washcloth wadded up at the corner of the tub....accessories, shampoos and an empty face cleaner just sitting out along with open boxes of baking soda.

An ugly plastic cup just sitting on the side of the tub next to an almost used up bar of soap.  The cabinet is full of clutter and dusty and dirty...the sides of the tub were dusty and yucky...and those pink blinds....oh, those PINK BLINDS that do NOT go with this room at all!  I rarely took baths in there anymore...and it's obvious why!

And THAT'S just ONE side of the tub.....Here's the other side!

Overflowing laundry that hadn't been done in over a week....filling up the laundry basket, and then a small white wicker basket in the back that was bought to hold clean towels!   A picture that had fallen off the wall now resting against the wall....that's not that terrible, but it ended up becoming a place to put wet swimsuits and other laundry!

Now, THAT'S terrible!

So, I set to work again...Cleaned up all the dust and grime and even some BUGS!  UGH!  It was a job!

The mildewy washcloth and the plastic cup were OUTTA THERE!  I threw them in the trash...never to be seen again!

I got the laundry rounded up and off to the laundry room where it belonged...and then brought a new laundry bin for our dirty clothes...a much better place than the FLOOR and our PICTURE...haha!

Those ugly Pink blinds are actually WHITE on the other side, so I just did a little flip around of the blinds and VOILA!

I found these three blue candleholders at Goodwill a couple weeks ago and I just thought they were so pretty!  They were priced 2 dollars each, but as I was making small talk to the cashier at the checkout counter, he gave me a 50% discount, so they were only $1 each!   I love when that stuff happens!!!  =D

That empty blue bin on the tub?  I filled it with the shampoo/conditioner, etc...all the stuff I used for a bath.

I went through and organized this little cabinet here, and put the basket with towels up on top of it.  This is a much better place to store towels than on our Master Bedroom couch...haha!

I added a few little decorative touches to make this tub a little more of a "luxurious" place to take a bath.

I found this porcelain lampshade at our church's local thrift store last month.  I loved the blue and white pattern and it fit perfectly on our old candlestick that we already had in the bathroom!  This originally was not going to go into the bathroom, but as I began to clean up, I thought of it and that it might look really nice by the tub!

The shells were already there, but I cleaned them out and cleaned out the bowl which had gotten quite dusty and dirty!

This is so much better!!!

This newly cleaned and organized bathtub area made me actually WANT to take a bath...which I hadn't done for months...so you know what?  I lit those candles, dimmed the lights, and I took a nice hot bubble bath in my new spa-oasis tub!!  haha!

Total cost for this makeover?  If you count the thrift items, the total would be $10!   (3 dollar-store blue bins, 3 dollars for the three blue candleholders and 4 dollars for the blue toile porcelain lampshade)  Definitely a SMALL price to pay to enjoy our tub again!  =)

I would LOVE to hear from you!   Please feel free to comment with any thoughts, some of your makeover tips, or suggestions on how to make this tub area even better!   Also if you're a Facebook user, I'd love for you to "like" my Facebook Page!   I'll post extra pics and daily updates as well so you can find what you like best and also share comments and suggestions!  =D

Hope you have a great Monday!

    1. Thanks Karen! I loved how nice and roomy this big tub was when we bought the house. Eventually we'll completely redo this bathroom, but I definitely want to still have a nice big tub! At least now it looks a little more spa-like! And the peace of mind of taking a nice "clutter-free" bath is priceless... Thanks so much for visiting and for following my blog! I'll be happy to follow you right back! Have a great week.

  10. It’s good to know that you actually spent an ample time to tidy up your tub. This would benefit you in a lot of ways. One is that you wouldn’t have to worry about accidentally letting some things slip down the drain. I have known that tube caps are and other plastic wares are notorious for doing this. In consequence, the pipelines clog and ruin the whole bathroom.

  11. Oh, thank goodness you found time to tidy up your bathroom! It looks more beautiful and relaxing now than before. I soo love it. Just the sight of it makes me want to fill our own bathtub with bath salt and rose petals with only scented candles as light. ^-^
